If you're planning a cruise any time soon, you might want to think twice! First off, passengers have been evacuated from a cruise ship in Tenerife after a suspected hantavirus outbreak onboard sparked an international health investigation. Several travelers became ill during the voyage, and now U.S. and French nationals who were aboard have also tested positive for the rare virus after leaving the ship. Health officials say the overall risk to the public remains low, but passengers are being contacted and monitored as authorities work to determine how the exposure may have happened during the cruise. And over a hundred people on the Caribbean Princess cruise liner have gotten sick from norovirus! Norovirus is a VERY contagious virus that typically causes gastrointestinal issues - sometimes significant ones! And unfortunately for vacationers, the close quarters of cruise ships make them relatively frequent hotspots! There have been four reported outbreaks so far this year, including another Princess Cruises ship, which saw over a hundred and fifty people get sick in March. It's not just cruise ships to worry about! A forty-foot cabin cruiser EXPLODED in Florida on Saturday! The "Nauti Nabors" was docked near North Miami Beach when the explosion rocked the area. Authorities declared a "Level 2 mass casualty" incident, and eleven people ended up hospitalized. The cause of the explosion hasn't been confirmed, but multiple people said they smelled gas, and suggested fumes ignited when the boat's motor was turned on. That's your first look at the news!
